#7 - Binge Watching

Image
Binge Watching: Outer Banks I remember the very first show I binge-watched on a streaming platform. I was in seventh grade, and I begged my parents to buy Netflix so I could watch  Pretty Little Liars.  Since then, Netflix has been at my disposal to watch any show the platform offers.  I usually only have time to binge-watch shows when I am on extended breaks from school. Still, my family now has access to almost every streaming platform, so I can basically watch anything I find interesting. There are multiple shows that I have enjoyed binge-watching, but one show that I have thoroughly enjoyed watching recently is the Netflix original Outer Banks.  Over Christmas break, I watched both seasons of the hit Netflix original  Outer Banks . I remember when the show initially premiered during the pandemic. It pulled everyone into a frenzy due to its popularity; however, though I was surrounded by Outer Banks  content on TikTok and Instagram, I was never te...

#6 - Global Trends

Wordle When asked, "What's trending globally?" my mind went immediately to Wordle . About two months ago, I was scrolling through social media, and I kept seeing these little green and orange squares. I had no idea what I was looking at until I looked at the comments. You are playing the same puzzle as everyone else and can discuss the puzzle with your friends. I cannot tell you how many times I have heard, "have you done the Wordle today?" The gameplay is simple. Players guess five-letter w...

Surveillance Footage  For years, surveillance footage has helped solve millions of murder and crime cases. In a world that revolves around video, surveillance footage has become an excellent source of evidence, mainly when it provides the time and date the video is taking place. Video surveillance offers individuals a source of protection; however, is it at the cost of privacy? There are multiple scenarios that I have come across that truly highlight the pros and cons of surveillance footage being used in our world today. On TikTok, surveillance footage is used periodically by users for comedic content; however, I will come across crime-related content on my For You page. I have always been interested in true crime, so I often come across crime-related surveillance footage on TikTok. One example of this is the Aiden Fucci case.  Aiden Fucci is a fourteen-year-old boy facing first-degree murder charges after allegedly stabbing a cheerleader 114 times. His is mother, Crys...
