Video Predictions: A More Immersive Experience
Watching video change over the last decade has been a surreal experience. When I was seven years old, I never imagined that the cell phone would evolve into what it is today. I was always jealous that my older sister had a flip phone; I never knew that when I got a cell phone of my own, I would be able to watch movies, take high-quality photos, or FaceTime someone, let alone multiple people at a time. It is impressive to see how fast video has changed in a short amount of time; even then, it is hard to imagine what will come next, but I still have some ideas.@jemma.stone if you couldn’t get tickets to harry styles here’s a video to comfort you #harrystyles #foruyou #foru #fyp #foryoupage #concert #live ♬ original sound - Harry styles
This is called 8D audio. 8D audio "tricks your brain into thinking that there is more space than there actually is." Regardless of how it would work, it would be interesting to see this added to streaming and movies from home. It would be like an IMAX movie theater, but with a way to make the film seem more immersive. We see this type of immersive content in places such as Disney World. Mickey's PhilharMagic is an immersive ride on the Disney property. The ride uses 3D glasses and special effects to create an immersive experience for the audience and make them feel that everything around them is happening right in front of them.
Creating an experience like Mickey's PhilharMagic takes a lot of room and technology. To pull something like this off in your own home is almost impossible; however, with where technology is now, we may be able to pull it off on a smaller scale. Currently, virtual reality has created immersive content right before your eyes.
